Jianghui Ji Participated in the 4th Sino-German Frontiers of Science Symposium

 Upon the invitation of Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Jianghui Ji of Purple Mountain Observatory participated in the 4th Sino-German Frontiers of Science Symposium holding at Berlin, April 27-30, 2011. Dr. Ji was the lecturer of Chinese part on the subject “Planet Formation”.


The Sino-German Frontiers of Science Symposium are a series of interdisciplinary conferences co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. 54 outstanding young scientists (27 each from China and Germany) are invited to the 3-day symposium this year to discuss the challenges and progress at the frontiers on the following fields: Biogeochemical Interfaces in Soils and Sediments, Image Processing and Rendering, Metabolomics, Molecular Neuroscience: From Genes to Cognition, Planet Formation, and Synthetic Biology. Dr. Ji gave an invited lecture on “Extrasolar Planets:  Key Clues to Understand Extraterrestrial Life in the Universe” at the conferences to address the latest progress in the exploration and study on the extraterrestrial planets and some key questions regarding the planet formation and the livable region in the planet system.

The Sino-German Frontiers of Science Symposium is aimed to provide an interface of communication between young scientists from China and Germany and hence promote the advance of science at very frontiers and the cooperation between the young scientists of the two countries and .
